Where The Broccoli's At

Last year I started publishing songs on FAWM under the name My Stupid Brother.  That's where I put the songs that were just silly and didn't really belong on my brownium account, which is only for very serious stuff.  Very serious indeed.  Anyhow, this was something My Stupid Brother wrote last year.

Where the broccoli
Where the broccoli
You eat a lot
But you don't get fat
I tell you this
And I tell you that
Where the Broccoli
Where the broccoli's at

Four Minutes

Four Minutes

This is something that I like to play semi-improvised.  I have all the elements worked out, but I put them together differently when I play it.  I've never managed to get a good take all the way through, so I'm giving you the best I can do.

Woman I Can Trust

I have a wonderful wife.

Woman I Can Trust
©2013 Stephen G Brown

You know she is dependable
She'll never be on time
She'll do just what she says she will
If it don't slip her mind
But I know that I can trust her
With all that matters most
And I'm glad my tender heart is in her hands

I'm headed off to work again
My cloths a wrinkled mess
"At least I got them washed"
She says, in her old wrinkled dress
But never have to wonder
If the kids get what they need
And I'm glad my tender heart is in her hands

Chorus
I know that her heart is as big as a mountain
Her love is deeper than the sea
And I want nothing more than to stay here beside her
And she wants to stay here with me

Well I'll never make a fortune
Hell, I hardly make a dime
I'd give her what she wanted
But all I've got is time
But she never asks for nothing
At least, nothin she don't need
And I'm glad my tender heart is in her hands

Played by my band Thumper and Smash.  Thumper on bass, Smash on Drums.  Everyone gets some vocals in there.  And here's where you learn that I am no lead guitar player.

America

America
©2012 Stephen G Brown

Tell me what is America
Is it baseball and apple pie?
Is it guns, guts and glory?
Go team, go

Tell me what is America
Is it burgers and icecream?
Big cars and big houses?
And bigger loans

Thought I knew you
But I was wrong

Tell me what is America
Is it Christmas with snowmen?
Is it Easter with Honey Ham?
And Halloween

Tell me what is America
Is farmers and factories?
Is it where all men live most free
Or is that Amsterdam?

Thought I knew you
But I was wrong

School Time

School Time

Got up early so I could go to school
Floss my teeth so I won't be a fool
Brought and apple, hope it makes her soft, cause
My teacher, she's so tough

Kids can sometimes be so mean
Thought Sally liked me, but I should have seen
Brought some flowers, hope to make her soft, cause
Sally Rogers, she's so tough

Math is harder than it looks
All those number sittin' in those book
Hope it's easy if I study enough, cause
Algebra, she's so tough

Joey Sanders punched my eye
Hurt a lot, but I didn't cry
Next time I'm hit, I hope I'm hit soft, cause
Getting beat up, that's so tough

Two Forward

I wrote this to keep Smash (my drummer) busy.  He likes it, so that's a good start.  It is meant to be the first in a series of "Prime Number" songs - songs written in time signatures with with prime number time signatures - 5/4, 7/8, 11/8, etc.  But I hate to make promises.

Oh, it it's not really quite finished, but I think it holds together okay as it is.

You take two steps forward
One back again
I wish I could make this
Different, my friend

The best I can offer
My best advice
Is just to be thankful
It's once back not twice

You try something different
It comes out the same
You gave all you had
But still lost the game

It's hard to decipher
You don't have a key
The secret is hidden
And don't look at me

round and round and
round and round and
round and round it goes
